New Century Software is a leader in developing data management and integrity management solutions for the oil and gas pipeline industry. These pipelines transport natural gas and hazardous liquid petroleum products throughout the US and the world. The company develops desktop, web and mobile applications that help pipeline operators manage information about pipeline assets and ensure safe operation. The company supports these implementations and applications with professional services that include pipeline risk analysis, data conversion, data migration and consulting.

New Century Software is looking to add a dynamic problem solver to our Implementation team. The Database Administrator is responsible for working with the database group to manage a portfolio of customer databases both internally and on client sites. The successful candidate will engage with clients, development staff, and internal users to create, tune, troubleshoot performance issues, and support our Product Suite on a large collection of client databases. Experience with Esri ArcSDE is necessary. Up to 20% travel required for the position.

The position of Database Administrator reports to the Implementations Manager. Responsibilities are presented in order of priority and include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Work independently as well as in a team environment to provide day to day management of multiple complex database implementations
• Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers in providing guidance and recommendations for resolving performance and data issues
• Troubleshoot and resolve production support issues at client sites and internally
• Provide guidance to software engineers on best practices for SQL code through code reviews and walk-throughs in order to optimize application code
• Participate in mentoring and knowledge sharing activities to ensure a strong team
• Apply innovation, creativity, and rigor to database development process and implement process and procedural improvements
• Develop best practices for moving data from internal sites to customer sites and vice versa
• Develop and implement processes to help manage changes to an industry standard data model
• Participate in various lifecycle stages including architecture specifications and design, application configuration, database design, programming, quality assurance, testing, and implementation, as well as maintenance and support of existing code base, solutions and reports
• Develop, test, document, and implement high quality database solutions on time that perform according to specifications and requirements documents

• B.S. in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience
• 2+ years’ experience in the design, implementation, tuning, and maintenance of highly-available and high-volume transactional databases.
• 2+ years’ experience with database schema design, physical database implementation as well as script writing, batch processing, and report generation.
• 2+ years’ experience with optimization of stored procedures, triggers, and user defined functions written in PL/SQL or T-SQL
• Experience with Esri ArcSDE.
• Significant exposure to and demonstrated proficiency in database analysis, including design factors, software requirements, systems facilities, and execution protocols
• Preferred experience with .NET technologies (C#/ASP.NET) to discuss software engineering projects with the Software Engineering team
• Adequate knowledge of current Microsoft Office products (Access/Excel/SharePoint)
