The Software Manager directs application/software development for the company and provides technical leadership for a number of desktop, server, and web applications for the oil & gas pipeline industry. This position directs the establishment and maintenance of consistent procedures, metrics, and development methodologies. Duties include managing and developing staff, capacity planning, fiscal accountability, and process engineering. This position also works closely with a diverse group of stakeholders from Marketing, Sales, Finance, and internal technical teams to define business opportunities and then drive end-to-end software solutions. The oil & gas pipeline software world is changing fast and this is a dynamic role where you will be able to learn as much as you contribute.


  • Manage the software release process with the goal of delivering software releases on time, on budget, with high quality and according to agreed-upon scope
  • Work with a focused software team of developers, QA manager, and product managers to develop and support high-quality applications for the pipeline industry
  • Direct day-to-day activities of software development teams
  • Develop resourcing strategies for the ongoing development and maintenance of multiple software products 
  • Establish and maintain consistent procedures, metrics, and development approaches 
  • Evaluate impact of business and technology trends on strategic direction of assigned products 
  • Provide expertise in development methodologies 
  • Successfully translate corporate objectives into team and individual goals 
  • Provide ongoing direction and mentoring to development team members 
  • Collaborate with other technology managers, senior management, and extended staff on project status and related project information
  • Ensure appropriate resources are identified, hired, and retained 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Strategic Development 



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, software engineering, or related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7-10 years’ experience leading development teams
  • Experience with measurement and improvement of software quality 
  • Experience managing teams using SCRUM/Agile development methodologies
  • Hands-on Development and Architecture Experience in Microsoft .NET, C# enterprise applications / ASP.NET, Visual Studio, MS SQL, Web Services
  • Experience with Oracle or SQL Server relational databases

  • Familiarity with multiple software development methodologies



  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in software development within the Oil & Gas Pipeline or Utilities Industries 
  • Experience developing ESRI ArcMap, ArcGIS Enterprise, or ArcGIS Runtime applications
  • Experience with linear referencing systems
  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Pipeline Industry
  • Knowledge of the Roads & Highways Transportation Industry
